Sanderijn Demuynck
Piano, harpsichord, mezzo soprano
Sanderijn (°1999) is an exceptionally versatile musician. Intrigued by the sublime experience of beauty in music and what it can bring about in a person, she applies herself to piano playing, harpsichord playing, basso continuo, singing and, more recently, choral conducting. Always keeping in mind the ideal image of a refined, poetic performance, she develops into a musician who is both very broadly and thoroughly trained. Sanderijn has a special love for early music. The hand-in-hand fusion of reason and feeling, so typical of the Baroque period, is something she is particularly comfortable with. This experience of a long period of musical history at the time of the harpsichord helps ensure a grounded and conscious performance practice in later music at the piano.
Collaborating with singers and wind instruments is something that has always fascinated her. The instrument's own breath as its motor, provides a very distinct and natural form of musical phrasing. Her singing experience and cooperation with singers result in a refined feel for musical phrasing, which makes her very suitable for the role of accompanist at the keyboard or soloing partner in the song repertoire.
Sanderijn Demuynck obtained her bachelor's degree at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven with Alessandro Cervino and her master's degree at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent with Vitaly Samoshko, both with high distinction. She is currently finishing her master's degree in harpsichord at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Bart Naessens. She is also taking singing lessons with Bart De Kegel as a mezzo-soprano and choral conducting lessons with Johannes Dewilde, and gained experience in teaching as a piano and harpsichord teacher and accompanist in various academies and privately. Master classes and private lessons with musicians such as Catalina Vicens, Maria Gonzalez, Léon Berben, Piet Kuijken, Julien Libeer, Hans Ryckelynck, Joop Celis, Ewald Demeyere, Korneel Bernolet and others gave her the opportunity to develop even further.
Sanderijn is involved in a broad artistic field, as her varied activities show. She is often asked to play as a continuo player in ensembles, for solo assignments and for accompanying singers and choirs. She has played basso continuo at the harpsichord with orchestras and ensembles such as Belgian National Orchestra and BACHplus, regularly collaborates with CloseOpera as singer and pianist/repetitor, and in 2021 she worked alongside Menno Van Delft and Kris Verhelst in a project on the Concerto for 4 harpsichords and orchestra by J.S. Bach, conducted by Bart Naessens. Sanderijn is also repetiteur-conductor of the Roeselaars Chamber Choir.

Teaching
In addition to my passion for making music myself, I also have a passion for inspiring other people who would like to (learn to) experience the beauty of music. The enthusiasm with which my teachers convinced me to fall for that beauty, pushes me to continue on this line and enthuse other people as well.
I gained experience as a piano teacher at STAP Roeselare, among others, where I discovered my love for teaching. In addition, I regularly give private lessons (piano/harpsichord) to both children and adults. Beginners as well as more advanced musicians are welcome for lessons on one of my instruments.
